Hollow Knight: Silksong – Everything You Need to Know

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the return of the most beloved Metroidvania of recent years, a new adventure by Team Cherry starring Hornet. Set in the mysterious kingdom of Pharloom, the game focuses on 2D exploration, backtracking, intense boss fights, and an evocative soundtrack by Christopher Larkin. After a long wait, it released on September 4, 2025, and can be played on PC (Steam), Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Here Hornet, kidnapped and taken to an unknown land, must climb a gigantic Citadel in a sort of perilous “pilgrimage” filled with mysteries and dangers.
Silksong evolves the formula of the first chapter with a brand new world full of verticality, more than 150 new enemies, structured quests, crafting, and livelier town hubs. The result? An action-platformer that pushes even more on acrobatic mobility, game rhythm, and rewarding exploration.

Gameplay Insight
The core of Silksong is movement: Hornet is faster and more vertical than the Knight from the first game. Her needle with silk thread enables rapid attacks, counters, aerial dashes, and tricks that open shortcuts everywhere. The feeling is that of an elegant yet tense action-platformer, requiring precision but rewarding with a flowing, dance-like combat style.
The Bind healing replaces the old Soul magic: you accumulate Silk by hitting enemies, then spend it in one move to restore multiple masks. It’s fast, but if interrupted you lose the reserve, making timing crucial. Together with charms, craftable tools, and resources collected in the field, it allows light and reactive builds, perfect to vary approaches between areas and bosses.
The kingdom of Pharloom is designed as a climb toward the Citadel: vertical biomes, towns to restock and accept quests, clearer maps, and many detours that reward exploration. With 150+ new enemies, mini-bosses, and epic fights, the pace alternates between contemplative exploration and constant pressure.
